Michael Donaldson began studying piano at the age of 6 years old, and started playing trumpet at the age of 9. He enjoys playing many instruments and has since picked up French Horn, Trombone, Guitar, and Bass. He has spent many years on several instruments and is proficient in a wide variety of styles and instruments. 

He has played in a variety of ensembles including jazz bands, pop/rock groups, symphony orchestras (including the Nebo Philharmonic Orchestra), wind symphonies, and is fluent in a wide variety of genres. He has also spent the last 2 years playing in a professional level marching ensemble (Drum Corps International) with the Sacramento Mandarins. Other performance credits include: Mike Clark, Chase Baird, Eric Marienthal, Jeff Jarvis, Susan Huff, Dr. Madeline LeBaron, as well as many top ensembles at the Horne School of Music which he currently attends.

He has also included composition and production into his focuses and is preparing to release his debut album as a recording artist and producer within the next year. He has had the opportunity to study under Professor Ben Harris, Peter Brienholt, Dr. David Blackinton, as well as Dr. Trent Hanna, and has spent several years immersed in production and composition and has studied many styles from Classical to Jazz, as well as rock and pop. 

He intends to graduate with his Bachelors of Music with and Emphasis in Commercial music and later pursue a Masters degree in composition.
